BSP Financial Group Board Visits Samoa, Bridging Gaps and Empowering Communities
In a heart warming display of appreciation for Samoan hospitality, the BSP Financial Group Board’s visit to Samoa resonated with their deep-rooted commitment to fostering sustainable growth, nurturing invaluable partnerships and uplifting local communities.
The BSP Financial Group board, led by Chairman Robert Bradshaw, alongside directors and key executives including Group CEO Mark Robinson, recently concluded their visit to Samoa. The group had the privilege of meeting with the Honorable Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mataafa, accentuating the importance of government collaboration in fostering economic development and prosperity.
Commencing Tuesday 16th April, the visit culminated in a series of engagements aimed at reinforcing BSP’s commitment to the Pacific region and fostering partnerships for sustainable growth. The Board chairman, directors and executives were welcomed with a traditional Samoan ava ceremony, hosted by the BSP Samoa staff on Tuesday evening. The board was also honoured with a reception organised by the staff, further highlighting the strong bonds within the BSP family.

In a statement reflecting on the visit, Chairman Robert Bradshaw expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by the people of Samoa, highlighting BSP Group's commitment to environmental sustainability and financial inclusion.
"I thank you, Madam Prime Minister, for ensuring that issues of enormous significance to our Pacific Islands will now be discussed in our Pacific Islands. As part of our environment strategy, BSP supports organisations and initiatives that foster an understanding of environmental issues and provide practical support to building sustainable communities."
Key highlights of the visit included various business meetings with key partners aimed at strengthening existing partnerships and exploring new opportunities. The BSP Group Board launched the BSP Samoa and ABV MSME program and presented the solar lights and security fence community project for the Tufulele village pool.
"As part of developing a more resilient and financially inclusive region, BSP continues to invest in growing the micro, small, and medium enterprise segment across the region," Mr Bradshaw said when expressing his delight at being part of the launch of BSP Samoa’s MSME program, which is already underway in PNG and Fiji.

Looking ahead to Samoa's hosting of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in October 2024, Bradshaw highlighted the vital role of MSMEs. He said as Samoa prepares to host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in October 2024, MSMEs will play a vital role. “Supporting MSMEs to participate will ensure that the benefits of hosting the event reach the community."
Group CEO Mark Robinson emphasised the organisation's commitment to developing a strong, robust and resilient Pacific. He stated, “We strive to support our communities through sponsorships, donations, community projects and volunteer activities.” He reiterated the organization’s dedication to fostering community well-being and social responsibility.
The visit culminated with a group board meeting and an engaging customer function at the Robert Louis Museum, Vailima.
