BSP Samoa Backs 2023 Impromptu Speech Competition
BSP Samoa continues to commit to the younger generations when backing the 2023 Zone B Secondary Schools Year 12 Impromptu Speech Competition with a sponsorship $2,000 in cash and $500 worth of merchandise.
The event held on Thursday 21st of September 2023, at St. Mary's College saw nine participating secondary schools, year 12 students tasked to select a question and then craft and deliver a compelling speech on their chosen topic in 5 minutes.
The annual contest provides students with an opportunity of developing remarkable oratory skills and thought-provoking insights. Not only recognizing the dedication and hard work of these budding orators but also encouraged them to continue pursuing their passion for public speaking and critical thinking.
The year’s competition was nothing short of outstanding, with young talents emerging as the future voices of change. The competition was a testament to the dedication and creativity of the region's youth.
It was a close but fair contest with St Marys College walking away as the 2023 champions.

The winner of the competition was Tammy Maualaivao of St. Mary's College, who captivating the audience with her thought-provoking speech titled, "My biggest concern for the future: Artificial Intelligence.
The runner up was Charlotte Mah Yuen of Robert Louis Stevenson College, whose speech on the topic, "There is no such thing as Gender Equality in reality," resonated deeply with the audience while Leupule Puleiata of Faleata College clinched the third spot with her insightful speech challenging the popularity of junk food titled, "Junk food popularity is misleading."
BSP remains steadfast in its commitment to empowering the next generation through such initiatives in developing young minds.
